Sveta and ephedrine

23.11.2012       12:01       Day 73       Ludmila

I have seen a lot of people in my life. Many of them didn't leave any track, but I remember some fates. Recently, I remembered about one woman. Her name was Sveta and she was a striking example of a drug addict, who would sell her own mother and kids for the dose.

There is a type of drug addicts, who always have no money for this “poison”, and they have to inject with some crap, with the hard chemical drugs and in case of shakes they could do literally everything in order to inject. I still cannot understand what rules them. Most likely, they have been like that before injecting, and the dark sides of their personalities are simply revealed under the drug effect.

In the late 80s, the ephedrine appeared in the city. Many people addicted to it, but having used to it, the person needs 3 or 4 month to literally fall through the floor, as people say. This drug was in the city for couple of years only, nevertheless a lot of people have morally and physically died from it…

Sveta was married and had two children. First she started injecting with opium, but then switched to ephedrine. Everyone, who had no place to inject and hide came to her house. Ephedrine in turn is a non-stop sex, for the whole and nights, moreover the group sex. It was time, when her husband was begging for a dose in the corridor, while someone hanged out with his wife.

They used to live like that for two years, when Sveta got into the jail for the den in her house. She was sentenced to 7 years, deprived of motherhood, and children were placed in the private orphanage. Her husband killed his own father soon and was also jailed.

I met her in the jail and kept her next to me. She had one good quality – she was really hard working. She cooked well, washed and cleaned everything. The good wife for a good husband. She did all the job around the house and managed to sew two norms in one shift for her and me, cause I had money and products. She was so greedy for food and drugs, but was always so skinny.

When Sveta released, she didn’t even think of seeing her children. She got married and gave birth to one more daughter. For the kids that she left, God punished her with the husband who beat her every day. Then he was jailed and she wandered everywhere with her daughter. Wherever they were, Sveta was talking to someone, while her daughter searched all over the apartment. It doesn’t matter if they ate, or were placed to live for a while, something was always missing after they left. They have robbed me many times. …

The girl was nine, when Sveta died as a result of the cirrhosis. I saw her a year ago. She is an exact copy of her mother. She will be even worse than her mother, and her fate will be more terrible. However, the lives of the children, whom she left in the orphanage, are successful. They completed 11 years of high school and received an education. It’s good that they were raised without her participation.

Kirghizia was among the top leading countries that cultivated horsetail ephedra. And derivatives of these wild horsetail ephedra along with other chemical were used to produce ephedron and ephedrine, strong narcotic substances that caused different after-effects. Among those who used ephedron and ephedrine were somehow and sometime the representatives of 'zolotaya molodiozh', the sons and daughters of Soviet party nomenclature. Nowadays, only some old folks use horsetail ephedra to produce drugs like ephedron. O tempora! O mores!

It is tragic how drugs become the ruler in your life and that is the only thing that is important to you - when, where, and how to get it. Nothing else matters even if you wanted it too. It absorbs your whole being - the search for drugs, the search for money for the drugs and then using the drugs. Within hours the cycle starts over again, Nothing else takes precedence over the drugs.

The same thing become true for the seller - always the need to get more drugs, finding a buyer, selling and the looking again. The dependence on the money from the drugs makes it a never ending cycle.

Everyone gets hurt, everyone is affected. Lives around drugs and the money is like living in HELL. Always praying for different results - never getting anything but empty promises, depression and broken heartedness. Lord help us all to end tis madness.
